Cambridge pupils in finals of art contest

THREE Cambridge Primary School pupils have been chosen as finalists in the Dream Car Art Contest.

Toyota has been running the competition every year for the past seven years with the aim of connecting with future car buyers and finding out what sort of cars they would like to drive.

“It is also a good opportunity for the pupils to stretch their creative skills,” said Anysha Roberts from Toyota.

“Last year we had a six-year-old boy fly to Japan with his father and, even though he did not win, the four days he spent in Japan were a real treat for him.”

Pupils are invited to explore their creativity and imagination by drawing their idea of the car of the future.

Cambridge Primary School entered five art works from the under- 10 age category.

“Of the five, three were selected as finalists in South Africa. They will be flying to Johannesburg tomorrow morning,” said Cheryl Kent, a teacher at Cambridge.

Abigail Rululu, Eleanor Wilkinson and Kyre Rooy will fly to Johannesburg with their parents.

A prize-giving ceremony will be held in Sandton tomorrow afternoon, where the pupils will find out how they fared in the competition.

If they win a prize the picture will be sent by courier to Japan for the international leg of the competition.

Prizes include laptops, tablets, CNA vouchers and R8000 for first place. —
