The American hip hop sensation will be the headline act at the Bay Summer Concert in Nelson Mandela Bay, a 12-hour marathon event which is being organised by Port Elizabeth-based Third World Records and Dogg Foundation Inc.
The event also includes an impressive line-up of internationally acclaimed artists like Ciza Tha Journalist, Wonderboom and the Springbok Nude Girls, as well as international deejays Living in Sin and Waxxy.
Dogg Foundation Inc chief executive Amwar Khan said everything had been finalised for the event, and it was all systems go to bring Rhymes to the province.
“Busta Rhymes will be the first international superstar to perform at the new stadium, and what’s more, it’s a once-off show.
“He’s not going to Cape Town or Johannesburg, he’s flying in to PE, doing the show, and then he’s flying back out to the States,” he said.
“We need to make this a success, we now have a premium venue for these types of concerts, but the people need to come out in support of these initiatives, to make it a success,” he said.
The show is set to run from noon to midnight on Saturday, November 28, with gates opening at 10am. Tickets for the show, costing between R150 and R350, can be obtained through Computicket. — By DERRICK SPIES. derricks@dispatch.co.za
