Cholera outbreak under control EAST LONDON -- The Chris Hani District Municipality has indicated that an outbreak of cholera in the Cofimvaba district is under control, following the treatment of 436 people for suspected cholera since February14. In a statement, communication officer Nolitha Mbangcolo said four people died in 22 villages. Mbangcolo said 1345 houses were visited by task teams promoting health and hygiene awareness during the period. The municipality installed and filled five water tanks and a borehole was equipped with a submersible pump and petrol-driven generator in the area. Pits were being dug for 200 toilets, and 30 mobile toilets had been provided in Qumanco. The Water Affairs and Forestry Department had assisted the district municipality with the distribution of bleach to households. Mbangcolo said clinic staff continued to treat patients, and the municipality thanked staff for their commitment and dedication shown to residents.
