Three drown in Transkei rivers

EAST LONDON -- Three people drowned in Transkei rivers at the weekend, police said yesterday.

Superintendent Nondumiso Jafta said Thulani Mbhele drowned in the Ibis River near Umzimkulu while fishing.

His body was found floating after he did not return from his fishing trip.

In another incident, Nonesi Jim, 18, and her three-year old baby Likho, drowned in the Rhume River near Umtata on Friday.

Likho's body was discovered but Nonesi's body was still missing yesterday. -- DDR
