SA singer Bles Bridges dies in car accident BLOEMHOF -- Afrikaans singer Bles Bridges was killed in a car accident outside here while returning from a concert shortly before midnight on Friday, North West police said this weekend. Bridges, 53, and his wife, Helena, 51, were on their way from Jan Kempdorp near Kimberley to their home in Vereeniging when he apparently lost control of the vehicle in rainy weather and it overturned, said police spokeswoman Annelie van der Bank. "Bridges was flung out of the car, and then the vehicle rolled over him. He died instantly." His wife was rushed to Bloemhof Hospital and later transferred to the Vereeniging Medi Clinic where she was reportedly in a stable condition. The accident occurred about one kilometre from here. -- Sapa Stocks & Stats Editorial Entertainment Features Television & Radio Sport Weather Tides Aircraft |
