'Ex' could not handle attack LONDON -- A former British soldier was jailed on Thursday for 14 months over the "wicked act" of assaulting his ex-wife by putting shampoo on a door handle -- knowing she was allergic to it. Colin Slane, 28, an ex-Scots Guard, was found guilty of assault following a trial last month. Dundee Sheriff Court had previously heard that Heather Brown, 33, suffered massive allergic reactions to a range of products and could die if she did not receive medical treatment quickly. Slane had denied the charge and told the court he had only wanted to frighten his former partner and not harm her. On other occasions he had jumped up and down on her car and had spat in her face. Sentencing Slane, Sheriff Richard Davidson described the shampoo incident as a "particularly wicked act". -- Sapa-DPA Stocks & Stats Editorial Entertainment Features Television & Radio Sport Weather Tides Aircraft |
