W'strand residents to repair roads

By Zindzile Aries

EAST LONDON -- After several failed applications made by the Winterstrand residents to the Amatola District Council to repair damaged roads in the area, residents have decided to do the work themselves.

All 65 house owners in the village decided to go out and repair the road themselves.

The chairperson of the Winterstrand Ratepayers' Association, Milton Thesen, said residents were using their own equipment to maintain the roads.

Thesen said residents were paying rates like everyone else and saw no reason why their roads should not be attended to when they asked the Amatola District Council for assistance.
