By Wilberforce Mdoda

KING WILLIAM'S TOWN -- The King William's Town Transitional Local Council has begun 1999 with a R29 million housing project in Dimbaza South and Ginsberg.

The money has been provided by the provincial housing board.

More jobs are now expected to be available in the area, with contractors and sub-contractors expected to start the year in a busy manner.

At a meeting held at Dimbaza Community Hall, residents were told about the 1700 houses to be built at Dimbaza South, popularly known as Phola Park.

Mayor Sithembiso Tyilo said his TLC was addressing upgrading electricity, water and sewerage.

Road were being upgraded after they were damaged during the rainy period.

Gardens and parks were cut in Dimbaza, Zwelitsha Phakamisa and Litha to encourage people to keep their area clean.

Mr Tyilo said the power cuts at Dimbaza were caused by old electric wires, which were being replaced.

A new lighting system would also be installed.

Earlier, he appealed to the residents to update their services.
