Fire destroys 17 huts in Majola area

UMTATA -- Seventeen huts were destroyed by fire at Tyeni, near Majola, north of Port St Johns, on Tuesday, police said yesterday.

Inspector Maphelo Ngame said no one was reportedly injured as there were no occupants. It is believed they had fled to escape the ongoing violence in the area

Insp Ngame said it was shocking and disappointing to note that the recent talks in the area, which were attended by Safety and Security MEC Dennis Neer, did not yield any hope that stability would return to the area.
